But why the "tail" on the lower case t?!! Does ANYONE make Ts that way??!! Especially not preschoolers!

Has anyone else had trouble getting the sound? It worked until the most recent update and now it no longer identifies the letters, which makes this pretty useless. Also, I agree with other reviewers about the starting point dots and proper formation of /4/ and /t/.

My son is just 2 and he often chooses this app to mess around with. He likes knowing letters, but is to young to really be able to write. He considers it a coloring app and likes to color in the letters. He repeats the letters as he hears them spoken, then draws a bit and goes on. He is getting familiar with their shapes. He can recognize about 8 or 10 letters now. I sometimes draw the letter (trace) for him to watch. That is my only recommendation is some kind of animation showing the tracing.2

I would like to see the app provide some type of guidance or reinforcement when the letter or number are properly traced or written. I just know my son is going to want to show me each letter when he writes it, to see if hes done it correctly. Since he can only use my phone in the car, this will frustrate him.. Also, I would like to see the numbers portion go to the number 20 or higher. Most preschoolers I know can already identify 0-9 without difficulty. It is the larger numbers they need help with..

My 3-year old daughter and her 4-year old cousin really liked this app - but they kept wanting to color the letters in instead of writing with single strokes. On paper, Ive been teaching them to write by tracing dotted lines. This app would be much better if the font used was in dotted line form. The way the font looks now is like a coloring book page.

I am a teacher who often teaches my nieces and nephews. This is a great way for video game playing kids to learn their letters and numbers.

I love this app for my 3 yr old. Hes learning how to write out his letters by using the tracing option. Its also reinforcing what the letters are.

My 4 and even my 6 year old love this. Its a really fun way to teach them letters and numbers and very interactive!

I use this app with my special needs child for practice in writing her letters and numbers. I do not use it as a teaching tool since we do the teaching at home and at school but rather as a supplement to what she is being taught. It is good for practice and saves on paper as well. :-) I think the reinforcement she gets is being able to do it herself.

My 3 year old loves this app. He spends a good amount of time practicing. He loves it with his My Ami and he can now write all the letters on his own both lower and uppercase. Come up with somthing for older children with letter combinations and higher numbers

I purchased this app for my son last year when he was three years old. He really got a great start on writing letters and I have found a use for it as well~ I am a nurse anesthesia student~ Although I have been a nurse for 7 years (and a mother of 2) I had no experience in dealing with pediatrics in the stressful environment of the surgery setting. This is one of 2 apps that I pull out when in need of an "emergency distractor". Its simple, I dont have to give them instructions and I can even let them feel some sense of control by allowing them to choose their favorite color.

Im a new iPhone Mom, and I was looking for an app for my daughter. I purchased this 1 and she loves it! My daughter will be 5 in June and has already been writing, but this a great and fun app for her to reinforce her writing skills! She is always asking to play on it and do her writing! It saves paper & all she had to do is shake the iPhone to try again! The voices are nice, and the options are great! She works on her upper and lower case letters, and her numbers any time and anywhere! This a great app!

This app has a good idea but doesnt follow. I bought this app for my 3 y.o. son whom I wanted to help learn his ABCs. He uses the trace mode to color or simply fill in the letters. If you were to teach how to write or trace the letters correctly (perhaps by putting arrows to show the direction to trace), that would automatically make this app a 4 or even 5 star app and one that I would proudly recommend to others. Look at the Kanji app for Japanese characters and youll see an excellent tool for tracing and learning the proper way.

My daughter really likes this app. I agree with the other commenter that arrows would be helpful, but Im there to help so its ok. I wish you could make words and they could learn to spell words and do flashcards. That would make this app even better!

This will be a wonderful activity for me to share with my four year old granson.It is non-threatening and can go anywhere sine there is no need for pencil or paper but still is tactile
