Love this app. My son traces chalk drawings in the driveway. This is much more portable without the mess. Wish there was some acknowledgement of good job, well done, or the like when the letter is traced correctly or freehand. Needs more interaction with the child, more instruction. Draw a straight line, now a curve , etc.
My kids love using this app. It is simple enough for them to figure out on thier own. The voice over is the perfect addition for my 3 year old.
Surely if you are teaching a child to count to 10 then after "9" the next number should be "10" not "0". This should be fixed. Nobody teaches their kid to count from one to nine before starting again at zero!
Perfect for my 3 year old. Love the options for upper or lowercase or numbers. Love the color changability. Its great.
This is agreat app for my son to learn the letters by sound and how to draw them....Need a french version as my son is bilingual
I downloaded this for my granddaughter she loved it now I cant get the tracer back and she is upset. WTH?
Great app, my son loves it. I would really like the addition of the sound the letter makes, not just its name (phonetics). That would make this app an awesome learning tool.
From an educational point of view this is a great beginning. What is missing are the cues to help children know where to start and what direction they need to go. If you want to work on developing motor patterns (this is what printing and writing are) it is important to give the right cues from the start. For example the letter C, a green dot at the top of the letter to indicate where to put the finger to start and a small arrow to indicate what direction to move the finger. If you dont give visual cues they may start anywhere in the letter or go from the bottom of the letter to the top. If you included these it truly would be a great app I would recommend as an educator.
User interface is definitely beyond target age range. Needs bigger NEXT and PREVIOUS buttons. Needs big CLEAR button to start over. Hide advanced Settings so that toddlers dont constantly access the screen. Look forward to those critical fixes.
My 3 year old loves to play this, and he learned quickly how to change all of the options. His favorite app by far!
My 2.5 yr old daughter loves this app. She plays it every day and can even change the color on her own. Id give it 5 stars if it had: Starting point and ending points for writing/tracing letter. My daughter likes to start from the bottom, despite my showing her each time to start from the top. Add phonectics. This would be a nice reinforcer to build on spelling skills. All in all, a great app!
My 3 year old loves this app.
Well worth every penny. My child is learning her letters and numbers as she plays. Hours of educational play on the go!
Im the nanny to a three year old little girl, who absolutely loves this app. She has gotten so good at staying in the lines in such a short time. It is very rewarding to see her be so proud of herself.
My 4-year-old LOVES writing his letters....he sees my itouch and immediately goes to the app to choose a new color "pen" and then starts tracing his letters. Hes gotten much better and even picks letters that are especially difficult just to practice more. At his day care classes he will practice his letters on paper and the teacher sent home the artwork pages where he was practicing letters and then decorating them. Its awesome "green" practicing! Thanks Niftybrick!
This is sooo great for my three yr old sis! It is helping her learn to write soo well! Thank for the great app! She loves playing with it cause its on my phone! She thinks its a great game and really loves hearing the kid talk!
This is fine for a very simple app, but there isnt any feedback on how well my kid does his letters, so I have to look at each one and say "good job buddy!" Some kind of positive reinforcement when he stays in the lines would be great.
This is an excellent idea. However, the numbers are out of order and do not match the system taught in school. We do not want to teach the wrong form to children and then reteach later. Numbered steps and arrows would be nice to help children learn to form the letters. On flash cards, both upper and lower case letters should appear together. It would be nice to do random cards or create a custom deck. Schools do not always teach letters in alphabetical order. Maybe add dotted line writting paper background. Add some positive reinforcement. Lastly, the shadowing on the letters looks nice, but throws children off. Add some or all of this and get five stars from me.
My 3 year old loves this app. He is getting better at letter and number writing and can be hanging off the couch practicing rather than stuck at a table. For him this good. I would suggest a few changes. Nobody writes the number "4" as it is in the app. Also, it would help to have a dotted line option to help with the writing. Though I want the dotted lines. I think it is best to make it an option because as my son is just starting to learn these writing skills, the lines frustrate him. Everyone learns differently. Being able to shake the phone to shuffle the deck would be neat too. Thanks for this app, it is a fantastic start for kids!
